BESTAO Consulting is currently looking for an experienced EU expert to deliver a specialized training programme on the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) for a Chinese organization.

The training is intended primarily for professionals involved in verification and conformity assessment. It aims to provide participants with a practical understanding of EU CBAM verification requirements, with a particular focus on the iron and steel sector.

Proposed Training Scope

The expert would be expected to cover, among others:

• EU CBAM regulatory framework and the latest implementation requirements;

• requirements under the relevant EU rules and guidance concerning CBAM verification and accreditation of verifiers;

• requirements and methodologies relating to the quantification, monitoring and reporting of embedded emissions under CBAM;

• roles, responsibilities and competence requirements for CBAM verifiers and verification bodies;

• verification principles, procedures and practical implementation;

• preparation of CBAM verification reports and the necessary elements to be included;

• identification and treatment of verification risks, material misstatements and non-conformities;

• practical examples and case studies, preferably relating to the iron and steel sector; and

• practical considerations for Chinese manufacturers and verification organizations working with EU CBAM requirements.

Training Arrangement

Duration: up to 2 days, approximately 8 hours per day

Format: either online or on-site in China, subject to discussion

Language: English, with interpretation support if required

Timing: to be agreed

Indicative expert fee: RMB 8,000–15,000 per training day, depending on the expert's experience and the final scope. Travel and accommodation arrangements for an on-site programme can be discussed separately.

Preferred Expert Profile

• We are particularly interested in EU-based experts with practical experience in one or more of the following areas:

• CBAM verification and/or accreditation of CBAM verifiers;

• EU ETS and greenhouse gas emissions monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV);

• ISO 14065 / ISO 14064-3 and related verification/accreditation activities;

• carbon emissions calculation and verification in the iron and steel sector;

• preparation or implementation of CBAM verification methodologies, guidance or procedures; or

• practical CBAM verification assignments involving industrial installations or imported goods.

• Hands-on experience with the iron and steel sector would be particularly valuable.
