On July 30, 2026, SAC/TC114 issued drafts of 8 national standards to call for public comments. The feedback submitting period will end on September 28 of 2026.

The standard series   describes a generic system for the exchange of data between truck chassis   manufacturers and bodywork manufacturers. It applies to commercial vehicles   as defined in GB/T 3730.1, having a maximum gross vehicle mass above 3 500   kg. It describes the general principles and provides an overview and   recommendations to assist the parties implementing BEP codes for their   communication process.

Acceleration   performance test method for motor vehicles
  (replacing GB/T 12543‑2009)

It specifies the   test conditions, test methods and acceleration smoothness evaluation for   acceleration performance tests of motor vehicles carried out on roads and   chassis dynamometers. It applies to vehicles of category M and N.

The BEP standard series are adopted in the purpose of addressing the data compatibility issue while improving data exchange efficiency for between truck chassis manufacturers and bodywork manufacturers in China. These national standards are basically identical adoptions from the ISO 21308 series, except for some editorial changes.

To summarize, the formulation of BEP series may facilitate relevant foreign stakeholders in the sector as it will promote international practice in the country. And it is advised to stay updated to the future progress of the standard revision on vehicle acceleration performance test, not only because the currently effective version has been published for almost two decades therefore the revision will result in quite a few technical changes, but also the standard itself is a significant technical foundation for such tests in China’s vehicle management system.
