China’s growing influence in international standardization is evident. Over the 14th Five‑Year Plan period, the country initiated and published 1,183 ISO/IEC standards, an 88.1% increase from the previous five‑year span. With over 80 secretariats now held in ISO alone, up from nearly zero two decades ago, China ranks third globally in ISO technical secretariat count, behind only Germany and the United States. This steady expansion reflects the determination of China to improve its influence and input to the international standardization. In such case, besides the necessary communication within the country, such active participation provides foreign stakeholders that are interested in cooperation with Chinese counterparts with a new interaction platform at the global level.
