



On September 15, 2021, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released the Strengthening the Network Security and Data Security of The Internet of Vehicles (hereinafter referred to as “the Document”).
The key messages are of the Documents are:
• Enhance the security protection of intelligent and connected vehicles, IoV (Internet of Vehicles) network and IoV service platforms, strengthen data security protection and improve security standard network.
• Enhance security protection and checks of key equipment and components such as in-vehicle information interaction system, automotive gateway, electronic control unit and improve visit and access management of OBD, USB ports and charging ports.
The Document is a supplement to the current data-security-related administration, and more specific implementation/guidance documents are very likely to be released in more relevant sectors in China. Meanwhile, more vehicle-related data protection measures/documents are coming into force since 2021.
