In August 2021, China passed the Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL), which lays out for the first time a comprehensive set of rules covering data processing. It is regarded by many as “the world’s strictest Data-Privacy Law”. On June 10, 2021, China released the full version of the PRC’s Data Security Law (DSL), which will come into force on September 1, 2021. The release of the PIPL completes the trifecta of China’s foundational data governance regime – together with the Cybersecurity Law and the Data Security Law.
The Regulation on Security and Protection of Critical Information Infrastructure (hereinafter referred to as “CII”) was promulgated on August 17 and will enter into force since September 1, 2021.
To make our clients understand more about China’s data governance regime, BESTAO experts will make a free training on “Regulatory Changes of Data Governance in China (DSL, PIPL, & CII)”.
