On July 9, to supervise and guide the implementation of Data Security Law for basic telecommunication enterprises, and enhance the administration of data security, the Cyber Security Administration (CSA) of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) in China organized the national video conferencing. It deployed and conducted the implementation of industry data security standards for basic telecommunication enterprises in 2021, and conduct publicizing, implementation and explanation for the three standards which are Data Classification and Grading of Basic Telecommunication Companies, Guide to Identifying Important Data for Basic Telecommunications Companies and Data Security Assessment for Telecom and Internet. Over 300 responsible comrades attended the conference, which are from local communication administrative bureaus, basic telecommunications corporations, provincial companies, professional companies and related supporting units.

The conference emphasized that data has become the key production factor, and data security is related to national security and social and economic development. Basic telecommunications companies are the "Base" of data security in the information and communication industry. Ensuring the implementation of data security standards is not only the fundamental requirements to thoroughly implement the decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council of China, but also the specific practice that comprehensively implements the Data Security Law of P. R. of China.

All units shall further improve their political positions, adhere to the general national security concept, perform their duties and effectively cooperate, strengthen organizational leadership, improve working mechanisms, detail the measures, strengthen the implementation of responsibilities, leave no stone unturned and work hard, taking the implementation of standards as the entry point. All units should also take "Strict Standards" as principle to establish a data security administration system, and take "High Standards" as principle in building technical capability to safeguard data security, comprehensively improving the level of data security management.

In recent years, based on its industry regulatory duties, MIIT of China participated in the formulation of Data Security Law and Personal Information Protection Law, issued the Guidelines for Building the Data Security Standard System for Telecommunications and Internet Industries, organized and developed over 40 key standards on grading, security evaluation, key technologies, etc. The framework for industry data security management system has basically taken shape, promoting the continuous improvement of capabilities to safeguard industry data security.
