With the vigorous development of digital economy, all kinds of data growing in a fast speed and accumulation. It then produces a significant and deep effect on economic development and public life. Data security has become a major topic related to national security and economic and social development. On June 10th of 2021, the 29th session of Standing Committee of the Thirteenth National People's Congress has passed and approved the Data Security Law of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as “the Data Security Law”), and it will come into force on Sep 1st of 2021. As a basic law in the field of data security, the Data Security Law fully demonstrate the principle on present data security supervision of China.

Article 10 of the Data Security Law states that: in accordance with their charters and the law, relevant industry organizations are to draft specifications and group standards for data security activities, strengthen industry self-discipline, guide members to strengthen data security protections, increase the level of data security protections, and promote the healthy development of the industry. As an important part of China’s new standardization system, along with the official implementation of the Data Security Law, association standard will become an important grip to guide the behaviors of relevant industrial organizations, and to promote the data security and development.
