[AUTO, CCC] – APR 30 2021, Safety Technical Specification For Glazing Materials Used In Power-Driven Vehicles GB9656-2021 published

On April 30, 2021, State Administration for Market Regulation and Standardization Administration of the P.R.C. announced the approval and release of new version of Safety Technical Specification For Glazing Materials Used In Power-Driven Vehicles. “Safety technical specification for glazing materials used in power-driven vehicles GB9656-2021” is the compulsory CCC certification standard and will be implemented on Jan 1, 2023.

The first version of the standard is first published in 1988. After several revisions, the currently operating version is released in 2003. In the meantime, the drafting of General Technical Specification For Glazing Materials Used In Power-Driven Vehicles has already started and is expected to be released and implemented soon.

The new version of standard expands the application scope. It gives a more comprehensive and clearer description of the applied vehicles by changing name from “road vehicles” to “power-driven vehicles” to be more fitting into the actual status of safety glass in China. The safety technical requirements listed in the GB9656-2021 are divided into 4 sections: safety inspection of automobile visibility test, strength security test, damage security test and environmental durability inspection.

Safety glass is one of the most important testing components in automobile material inspection. The new version of standard will be in favor for a compliance market, the guarantee of product quality, and shall also provide scientific evaluation basis for product safety.
