On April 26, 2021, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) called for comments on Interim Provisions on the Protection and Management of Personal Information of Mobile Internet Applications (Draft for Comments).

The Draft for Comments with 20 provisions defines the application scope and regulators, establishes two important principles of “Informed Consent” and “Minimum Necessary”, details responsibility and obligation of app developers and operators, distribution platforms, third-party service providers, terminal production enterprises, and network access service providers, and identify requirements in complaints and reports, supervision and inspection, disposal measures, and risk notifications.

The deadline is May 19, 2021
