On 31 March 2021, in order to promote the application of intelligent automotive technology and industrial development, strengthen the automotive radar radio regulation, and maintain airwave order, Ministry ofIndustry and Information Technology (MIIT) released the call for comments on Interim Provisions on the Radio Regulation of Automotive Radar. The Provisions comprise 13 articles which stipulate that The 76-79GHz band is planned for automotive radar, where the main use cases include adaptive cruise control (ACC), collision avoidance (CA), blind spot detection (BSD), lane change assistance (LCA), parking assistance, rear cross-traffic alert (RTCA), pedestrian detection, etc. As of 1 January 2024, production or import of on-board vehicle radar equipment in the 24.25-26.65GHz band sold in China will cease. Vehicle radar equipment in the 24.25-26.65GHz band that meets the original regulations and has been put into use is, in principle, available until the end of life.
