[ AUTO ] - FEB 20 2021, mandatory national standard GB19578-2021 Passenger Vehicle Fuel Consumption Limits formulated by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology
Uploading Date: 2021-03-16 11:28:33

The mandatory national standard GB19578-2021 Passenger Vehicle Fuel Consumption Limits, organized and formulated by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, was officially issued on 20 February 2021. Its implementation will begin on 1 July 2021.

This standard mainly stipulates the fuel consumption limit requirements of M1 vehicles that use gasoline or diesel fuel, and whose maximum design total mass does not exceed 3500kg in the next period. Revised by the National Technical Committee of Automobile Standardization.

The standard is one of the important supporting standards for China's automobile energy saving management.

Conversion of operating mode

By 2025, the test operating mode of traditional energy passenger vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric passenger vehicles will be switched from NEDC to WLTC, thus affecting the comprehensive fuel consumption of the vehicle.

Change of test methods

The loading mode of GB/T 19233-2020 Light Vehicle Fuel Consumption Test Method is changed, from inertial weight loading mode to continuous loading mode.

Scope: This document applies to M1 vehicles capable of running on gasoline or diesel fuel, and whose maximum design gross weight does not exceed 3500kg. It does not apply to vehicles running on gaseous fuel or alcohol ether fuel only.

There are three types of requirements:

1)      Requirements for limits

-          Fuel consumption limits for vehicles with manual transmission and seats under three rows;

-          Fuel consumption limits for other vehicles;

-          Reference value of CO2 emissions corresponding to the limit value.

2)      Requirements for production consistency:

-          The fuel consumption of gasoline, diesel, dual-use fuel and dual-fuel vehicles shall meet the production consistency requirements specified in GB/T 19233;

-          The production consistency inspection of other vehicles shall be carried out in accordance with the statistical methods and the rules of passing number determination stipulated in GB/T 19233.

3)      Requirements for modification and certification extension

-          The change will not affect the fuel consumption of the modified vehicle, and the vehicle certification will still apply to the modified vehicle.
