On February 2 2021, State Administration for Market Regulation (SMAR) called for comments on compulsory national standards of Energy Efficiency Limits and Energy Efficiency Grades of Data Centers (Draft for Approval).

This document specifies the energy efficiency grades and technical requirements, statistical scope and methods, testing and calculation methods of data centers. This document applies to newly-built, renovated or expanded data centers, and carries out energy consumption measurement, energy efficiency calculation and assessment for data center building units or modular units that adopt independent power distribution, air cooling and electric air conditioning. Data centers adopting other non-electric air-conditioning equipment can refer to this document.
