On December 20, 2020, the Ministry of Transport (MOT) issued theGuidance to Promote the Development and Application of Autonomous Driving for Road Traffic.

The goals are as followings:

By 2025, progress will be made in the basic theoretical research of autonomous driving, and important breakthroughs will be made in key technologies such as intelligent road infrastructure, vehicle-road coordination and product research and development, testing and verification; basic and key standards for autonomous driving will be issued; national autonomous driving test bases and pilot application demonstration projects will be built for large-scale application in some scenarios and the industrialization of autonomous driving technologies.
