On January 23, 2025, the National Technical Committee 260 on Cybersecurity Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC260) issued notice (hereinafter referred to as “the Notice”) to call for international standard proposals. SAC/TC260 is China’s mirror group of ISO/IEC JTC1/SC27(Information security, cybersecurity and privacy protection), which is a technical organization responsible for the development of international standards in the field of cybersecurity, covering information security, cybersecurity and privacy protection. Being the mirror group of ISO/IEC JTC1/SC27, SAC/TC260 undertakes the counterpart business of SC27, and is responsible for researching and drafting international network security standards, organizes and participates in international standardization work.
The Notice is calling for international standard proposals under following purpose:
- Promote the international standardization of cybersecurity in China.
- Enrich the reserve of international standardized technical achievements in the country.
- Encourage the export of China’s excellent practical experience and standard results of scientific research projects to the international community.
- Promote China's cybersecurity standards to "go global".
Demand areas of the proposals include but are not limited to: software development and supply chain security, artificial intelligence security, data security, privacy protection, intelligent driving security, Internet of Things security, cryptography and post-quantum cryptography, biometric information security, etc.
The submitted standard proposals shall be closely focused on the current international hotspot areas of cybersecurity and the urgent need for the development of the technology industry. The proposal shall also clarify the main content of the standard, the scope of application, issues to be solved, and it should already be a domestic standard project with a rather mature draft. In addition, the submitted proposal shall be universally practical, and needs to demonstrate the advantages and characteristics of technological achievements, the promotion value, the relationship with existing international standards, and the expected impact and benefits on domestic and foreign technological development and industry.
The proposals are required to be submitted to the given contact information of SAC/TC260 before the end of working hours (Beijing time) of February 21, 2025.
For foreign stakeholders, if relevant manufacturer or entity is already a member of SAC/TC260 in China, they are still eligible to submit international standard proposals. Other relevant foreign stakeholders are advised to observe the projects that may be proposed by the SAC/TC260 on the international level.
