On January 3, 2025, the National Certification and Accreditation Administration of China (CNCA) issued notice (hereinafter referred to as “the Notice”) to clarify the requirements of relevant CCC working measures after the revision of the supportive national standard GB/T 4706.1-2024 Safety of household and similar electrical appliances—Part 1: General requirements and the standards of the same series.
The GB/T 4706 standard series are identical adoption of IEC 60335 series, which serve as the basis for China Compulsory Certification (CCC) of household and similar equipment. This standard series is issued for implementation on July 24, 2024, and will come into force on August 1, 2026. These revisions are taking place due to the revision of the corresponding international standards. During the revision, the standard series also integrates and clarifies applicable standards for products such as portable electromagnetic ovens and evaporative air coolers etc.
Considering the significance of CCC, the CNCA issues the Notice in the purpose of ensuring orderly implementation for household and similar equipment, and specify following specific measures:

II. For motor-compressors (product category code 0704) that apply to self-declaration, product manufacturers shall complete the transition to the new standards through self-declaration within specified timelines, in compliance with the Announcement on Implementation Requirements for Compulsory Product Certification Self-Declaration Evaluation Method During Standard Revisions (issued by CNCA in 2021).
For foreign stakeholders, it is necessary to keep up with the CCC latest requirements to avoid potential market access risk. However, the fact that CCC testing standards are identical adoptions of IEC standard would facilitate and mitigate the potential impact on cost increasing etc. for manufacturers.
