On September 19, 2024. the founding conference and the first working meeting of TC268/SC1 (Smart Logistics in Transport, hereinafter referred to as “the SC”) were held in Beijing. Officials from the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), the Ministry of Transport (MoT) and the Research Institute of Highway of Ministry of Transport (RIOH) attended the event. A total of more than 40 attendees participated in the conference as committee members and specially invited representatives from government departments, societies and associations, relevant enterprises, scientific research institutions, universities and other relevant organizations from sectors like railway, highway, waterway, civil aviation and postal service etc. 

TC268/SC1 is currently the only SC for TC268 (Intelligent Transport Systems, mirror committee of ISO/TC204). The founding of the SC is aiming to promote the construction of the transportation smart logistics standard system, and it is also an important measure to build a powerful transportation country and improve the standardization level of smart logistics of China. The main responsibilities of the SC include but are not limited to: improving the working mechanism and system of relevant sectors, strengthening the standard research in key technology fields, promoting the coordinated development of domestic and international standardization etc. 

The main topics of the meeting include:

·         Announced the establishment of the SC: TC268/SC1 is presently consists of 40 members. The secretariat is undertaken by RIOH, and the Ministry of Transport is responsible for daily management and business guidance.

·         Reviewed the TC Constitution, the Secretariat's working rules, work plans, standard systems and committee groupings.

·         Organized and carried out training on standardization policy and business knowledge.

·         Summarized and analyzed the new situation and new requirements facing the standardization development of transportation intelligent logistics.

·         Reached the consensus that the SC should effectively work to support high-quality development of transportation, high-quality standard development, and standardization and opening up cooperation.

For foreign stakeholders and MNCs, the establishment of TC is of great significance for accelerating the development of smart logistics in China, and also marks a new stage for the standardization of smart logistics in transportation in China.
