Recently, SAC issued a call for comments on mandatory national standard “Intelligent Connected Vehicle (ICV) – Autonomous Driving Data Recording System (draft for comments)”. Comments shall be made before July 15, 

2023.

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, technical requirements, and test methods for autonomous driving data recording systems, and will apply to class M and N vehicles with level 3 driving automation function and above and autonomous driving data recording systems.

This standard was independently formulated by China, and no international regulation or standard has been adopted in the formulation process. It differs significantly from the UN Regulation No.157 Automated Lane Keeping Systems (ALKS) and the Autonomous driving Vehicle Test Requirements issued by California's Department of Motor Vehicles in 2018.

SAC/TC114/SC34 (ICV), the drafter of this standard, proposed a transition period of at least 12 months for its implementation.
