On January 17, 2023, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the National Energy Administration (NEA), and four other ministries jointly issued the Guidelines on Promoting the Development of Energy Electronics Industry (hereinafter referred to as “the Guidelines”).

The energy electronics is a newly emerging industry. It is originated to meet the integration and innovation needs of both ICT and new energy industries. “Energy electronics” is a general term of electronic information technology and products that produces, serves and apply for the energy. Main sectors within the industry include: solar photovoltaic, new energy storage batteries, key terminal application, key ICT services and products etc.  
Key contents of the Guidelines are summarized as follows:

·   The coordinated and integrated development of the whole industrial chain in energy electronics will be promoted. The intelligent manufacturing, as well as the operation and maintenance management in the energy electronics industry will be improved.

·   By 2025, breakthroughs in industrial technology innovation will be made. The level of advanced industrial foundation and modernized industrial chain will be significantly improved. The industrial ecosystem will be established preliminarily.

·   By 2030, the comprehensive strength of the energy electronics industry will continue to improve, forming an industry scale that adapts to domestic and international demand for new energy. The energy electronics industry will play a critical role in promoting peak carbon dioxide emissions and carbon neutrality.
