On January 13, 2023, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) issued the Administrative Rules of Radio Transmission Equipment (hereinafter referred to as “the Administration Rules”). This document will come into force on July 1, 2023.

It contains a total of 32 articles. The Administrative Rules specify the scope of application and division of responsibilities. It also standardizes the approval for the type of radio transmission equipment and the management of equipment imports. It improves the management system of micro-power short-range radio transmission equipment and clarifies the entire process management of radio transmission equipment.  

In regards of the approval for the type of radio transmission equipment, in order to implement the Opinions on Deepening the Management System Reform of the Electronics and Electrical Products Industry issued by the State Council on September 23 of 2022, in addition to the announced shortening of approval time limit and extension of validity period, the Rules also specify measures to benefit enterprises, such as allowing the applicant to independently prepare the type approval code and establishing self-testing and self-certification system of type approval.
