



On August 31, 2022, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China issued notice to call for comments on plans for the establishment of the National Standardization Technical Committee of Service-oriented Manufacturing (hereinafter referred to as “the New TC”). The call-for-comment period will last from the release date of the notice to September 30, 2022.
The establishing of the New TC aims to support China’s intelligent transition within industrial sectors and is especially geared towards assisting service-oriented sectors achieve digital and green transition. The country also attaches great importance to the development of service-oriented manufacturing. The Outline of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) for National Economic and Social Development and Vision 2035 specifically detailed the acceleration of “ a deeper integration of modern manufacturing within the service industry” and emphasized the development of “ a new model for service-oriented manufacturing”, henceforth making the establishment of a new TC for relevant work necessary. Another legal basis for the founding of the New TC includes the task in the National Standardization Development Outline, where it states to optimize the standard system for service-oriented manufacturing.
According to this establishment proposal, the standardization structure for service-oriented manufacturing would be divided into following sections:
