On August 1, 2022, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) jointly issue Implementation Plan for Peak Carbon Dioxide Emissions in Industrial Area (hereinafter referred to as “the Plan”).

The key objectives of the Plan are summarized as follows:

•       By 2025, energy consumption of industrial units above designated size will drop 13.5% compared with 2020. The decline in the emissions of carbon dioxide per unit of industrial added value is greater than that of the whole society. The intensity of carbon dioxide emissions in key industries has decreased significantly.
