On January 2 and February 11 of 2025, SAC/TC20 (Energy Fundamentals and Management) issued two notices, and published the drafts of four standards on energy efficiency for home appliance and EV products.

Energy efficiency standards are vital for EV and home appliance manufacturers, ensuring regulatory compliance, market access, and competitive advantage. These standards also support environmental goals by lowering carbon emissions and conserving energy resources. In addition, considering the fact that all energy efficiency standards are mandatory ones which directly relate with market access, it is necessary for foreign manufacturers to closely check out the drafts and provide their feedback timely or keep necessary interactions with the corresponding TC to get first hand information.
