On 17 June 2022, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) issued a call for comments on the revised mandatory national standard “Protective device against unauthorized use of motor vehicles”. This standard is expected to replace GB15740-2006.

This standard is the only mandatory national standard for automotive anti-theft devices in China. As some of its technical terms are not completely consistent with international standards or the technical requirements of relevant international standards, relevant foreign companies should pay close attention to how their market access in China will be affected.
