On May 12, 2022, the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) published an official notice to ban the sales of two cosmetic products named “Skin Care EXPERT Viable Cell Facial Cream” and “Skin Care EXPERT Viable Cell Essence”.

According to further details disclosed by the Notice, NMPA assigned regional medical products administrations in Guangdong and Chongqing to investigate the two products after discovering issues in routine inspection on adverse reaction. The investigation results show that such products not only failed to make legal registration, but also provided fake manufacturer and permit license information.

Under China’s cosmetics management system (leading by Cosmetics Supervision and Administration Regulations, the CSAR), such actions are severe violations of the law. Foreign manufactures should be extremely thorough when keeping up to date with recently publicized regulations and take compliant actions.
